Oil Rig Platform on M9
This Oil Rig Platform struck a motorway bridge on the M9 and was disloged from the trailer, we had to lift the rig free to allow the trailer to be removed we then re rigged our equipemt and reposition the rig, then crane lifted it again to allow the specialist trailer to reverse under it and the rig to be dropped on to it and re secured
Overturned Tipper - Aberfeldy
We were called to this overturned tipper near Aberfeldy, after we rigged our equipment and winched the casualty up to the top of the hill, we then re rigged and turned the vehicle back on to its wheels. We recovered the combination back to Volvo Truck & Bus in Perth, the trailer had some minor repairs carried out then was back on the road the next day.
Causewayhead Road - Low Railway Bridge
This unit and curtain-side trailer tried to negotiate (unsuccessfully) the low railway bridge on Stirling's Causewayhead Road. It was well and truly stuck. To complicate matters more the railway engineers wouldn't allow us to right the casualty onto its wheels if there was a possibility of it even touching the bridge again! Using both of our Scania heavy recovery vehicles, a pull back of some 10 metres to clear the bridge structure was required while holding it in the inclined position before righting it back onto its wheels. The load was transferred to another curtain-side. The unit was disconnected and after a roadworthiness inspection and the replacement of a nearside mirror was allowed to proceed on its journey, minus the trailer. The trailer was recovered back to our yard on the back of our Scania T/Cab as it had a severe twist rendering it un-roadworthy
Milk Tanker - Lanarkshire
This Job was done on a Sunday morning in mid January 2003 we were called to the location by our local Leyland Daf Dealer: Lex Commercials at Cumbernauld. It was a laden milk tanker, which had tried to avoid hitting an oncoming vehicle and ended up on its side in Lanarkshire. As you can see there were slightly adverse weather conditions. The road had been closed by the police for the recovery, which was pretty straight forward. Once positioned we ran a 2 to 1 layout from our first winch to the NSF chassis of the casualty (as the most of the weight had transferred to the front) we ran a single line to the NSR chassis from our second winch and proceeded to winch the vehicle back onto its wheels. We then repositioned the recovery vehicle and winched the casualty back on to the road. The vehicle was then recovered the back to the owners premises for the milk to be offloaded and on to the repairer.
Chipliner - Forest Track
A Chipliner carrying wood chips lands in trouble on a track out of the forest, after getting the load off with the help of a digger contractor we winched it back onto its wheels and recovered it for repair (it was almost 6 miles into the forest)
